THE OUTSIDES

Age: seventeen

General Appearance: Alessi changes her appearance regularly. Being the Princess, it’s often that the ladies at court copy her style of the moment, which in turn leads to the commoners around Egress following suit. Her handmaids come up with new ways to do her hair, new make up routines, etc, and Alessi lives for it. Often she is dressed to the nines, as is expected of her. Even in her down time though, she dresses purposely.
Ascarya: Alessi is unaware of her Ascarya at present. She has been raised to detest the Ascari, and though she does not feel it with the passion her mother does, she is always slightly afraid of the ascars she comes into contact with. For this reason, Alessi was never given opportunity to acknowledge what is supernatural within herself. She is unaware of her abilities, and they are very temperamental because she has not been trained. Her ability is inspiration.  Being around her gives other people the ability to perform to their best potential. Alessi herself is unchanged by her own ascarya, at least for now. People’s ascarya can be heightened when she is with them, for better or worse. People are stronger, more emotional, more cunning. This is fluctuating and temperamental, often depending on Alessi’s mood.
Family: Alessi’s only known family is her mother, the empress Isadora, and her cousin whom she looks up to as a father figure. She has always been very close to Fenec and loves him dearly. She is also close to her mother, but as the empress Isadora didn’t always have the time to spend with Alessi. Her father and grandparents all died before she was born.
Located: Alessi lives in Sortiel, the palace of Egress. Alessi’s chambers are in a turret facing west.

THE INSIDES
||BUSY, CRITICAL, GENTLE||
Personality: Alessi is very good at feigning confidence, but the truth is that she severely lacks it. She has no doubt her mother and Fenec love her, but the pedestal they have put her on is unrealistic and frightening. She is constantly trying to live up to their expectations, but oftentimes comes short of what she expects of herself. Her mind is constantly moving, attempting to catch up to what she sees as her duty. She is busy in the way that she is constantly attempting to improve. Everything she does has purpose. She has taken up gardening on orders of Fenec, as something to help her relax, but even as she does this activity she mulls over lists of things she needs to do, or work on.
She is critical of herself and anyone around her. She expects the best of people, and because of her unknown ascarya she often witnesses the best. This has skewed her view on what is accomplishable to the average person, causing her to be critical of results that are not the very best. In her mind everyone has the same number of hours in day...she is too naive to realize this is ridiculously untrue.
All of that said, Alessi is loving and has a bleeding heart. She expects much, but cannot stand to see suffering. She may believe you to be lazy or incapable, but she does not believe this makes you a bad person. She wants to help bring people to enlightenment, and believes everyone has a place in helping Volara and the Egressian empire.
Motivations: Despite how she was raised, Alessi Is motivated by what any good ruler is motivated by: her people. She disagrees with the way her mother rules the empire, and spends a lot of her time running through ideas on how to improve treatment of all people, even the ascari she has been raised to fear and look down on.
Fear(s): Though she loves her family, she fears many things about them. She is greatly fearful of letting them down or upsetting them. She is also terrified of letting the people of the world down. She wants to serve Volara as perfectly as possible, and is afraid of failing to do so.
History: Growing up, Alessi was constantly reminded of her superiority. From the time she was a small child her mother and Fenec have vetted her to be the future ruler of Volara. Her family is both revered and feared, and this, coupled with the pedestal Isadora and Fennec placed her on, has resulted in an inferiority complex. She has no family her own age, and thus was often alone in her childhood. Deprived of peers, Alessi spent most of her time with her older handmaids. Once, when Alessi was seven, Xia, a handmaid Alessi had had since she was small, was murdered for “neglect” of the Princess. That was the first time that Alessi feared her mother. Since then Alessi distanced herself emotionally from those around her.
