THE INSIDES
||vengeful, mournful, protective||
Personality: She’s vengeful predominantly towards the Empire that has destroyed her life twice, but that anger can extend to any non-ascar who she deems too compliant. She’s mournful of all the things she’s lost in life; especially her child, but also her freedom, her home, and her former lover. She’s very protective of “her people”, aka the ascari.
Motivations: Anger and hatred towards the Empire, and a desire to protect the free ascari people.
Fear(s): She’s afraid to get emotionally attached to anyone for fear of losing them.
History: Sanna was born to a tribe of people in the far north near the pole. The land her people lived on wasn’t especially coveted by the Empire due to it being, to them, a resourceless frozen wasteland, so they were mostly left alone. As Sanna grew up she developed her ascarya, which made her extremely useful to her people. Through traders, whispers of an ascar in the north pole reached the Empire, and imperial soldiers were dispatched. The leaders of Sanna’s village agreed to give her up to prevent a slaughter.
Sanna was still young enough to be considered “teachable” by the Empire, so from then on she was raised to be an imperial ascari soldier. As she grew into young adulthood she was considered talented enough to be bred into a noble-descended bloodline, and was matched with her fellow soldier Thoth to produce children with.
Before any children could be conceived, Sanna and Thoth were sent on a mission to capture a rebel base. They failed, and Sanna was captured by the rebels. During her time as a captive, she began to agree with the rebels’ cause. She joined them at a secret settlement of ascari and non-ascari people who wanted to be free of the Empire. She even fell in love with one of them; a rebel leader named Coen. They went on to have a son called Reynard together.
After a few years of relative happiness, the rebel settlement was discovered. An entire platoon of imperial soldiers, led by Thoth, laid siege to the settlement. Sanna was willing to turn herself over for the sake of the people she’d come to love, but she was double-crossed. A spy in their midst had told imperial leaders about her son, and they wanted him too. Unwilling to turn him over, fighting broke out. In the chaos, the settlement was destroyed and the survivors scattered, Sanna was grievously injured and presumed dead, and little Reynard was taken by the soldiers to be made into one of them.
Sanna survived, and in the years following she has traveled the continent taking her revenge wherever and whenever she can. She also searches for a way to neutralize alagara so that her people will no longer be held back from using their ascarya to destroy their Egressian enemies.
